Orchard Core updates

Allow to set whether to fall back to the parent culture or not through UI

The Localization module now allows the user to control the fallback to the parent culture through UI when a translation is not available in the current culture. This means that if a specific translation is missing, the system will automatically look for the translation in the parent culture, providing a more seamless user experience. The default behavior in ASP.NET Core is that the culture automatically falls back to its parent if it does not exist, and now you have the control to enable or disable this feature directly from the admin portal.

To test this out, you have to make sure that your site can support multiple cultures. To make this happen, you have to enable the Localization module under Tools -> Features. Now we can navigate to Settings -> Localization -> Cultures. Here you can see the new checkbox called Fall back to parent culture(s) that you can use to control the fallback to the parent culture when a translation is not available in the current culture.

Add Vector and Complex document type support to allow indexing complex objects

The Indexing module in Orchard Core now supports Vector and Complex Object indexing, enabling modern, intelligent search capabilities right out of the box.

  • The Vector type supports vector-based indexing and similarity search, allowing efficient retrieval based on vector embeddings, enabling indexing of numeric vector fields for semantic and similarity-based search scenarios. If a property is marked as a vector, it will be recognized and indexed accordingly by the provider.
  • The Complex type enables indexing of structured or nested objects, offering greater flexibility for modeling rich data schemas. Complex objects - such as a BagPart - can now be indexed automatically. If a complex type is marked as indexable, it will be mapped and indexed by the index provider without additional configuration.

From semantic search to recommendation engines, this enhancement empowers developers to build smarter, more flexible search experiences using Orchard Core.
